SUCCESS OF SLOVENIAN DESIGNERS AT THE CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW 2012
Two gardens designed by Slovenian designers have been awarded with prestigious awards at this year's Chelsea Flower Show. The garden called Pepa's Story designed by Borut Benedejcic has been awarded with the Silver Gilt Award, whereas The Soft Machine designed by Tomaz Bavdez has been awarded with the most creative garden in the Fresh Gardens category.
Pepa's Story features elements and planting characteristic of Karst areas and highlights the rich biodiversity of Karst dry meadows. The project is co-sponsored by the municipalities from both sides of the Slovenian-Italian border: Sezana, Komen, Hrpelje Kozina, Divaca and Sgonico Zgonik. Project The Soft Machine is a result of cooperation between landscape designer Tomaz Bavdez, educated in the UK and the company Humko led by Tomaz Cufer. This garden has been designed for processing and recycling waste, inspiration for its title came from the William Burroughs novel of the same name, where 'soft machine' is a synonym for the human body.
